WALID, Inc. to Participate in Founders Meeting of the Arabic Internet Names Consortium

Ann Arbor, Michigan USA, March 29, 2001 -- WALID, Inc. will participate in the founders meeting and Open Seminar on "Arabizing Internet Names” of the Arabic Internet Names Consortium (AINC). The meetings will be held in Amman, Jordan, under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II, on March 31 - April 1.

AINC will be created from the Arabic Working Group of the Multilingual Internet Names Consortium (MINC). AINC’s goal is to facilitate a truly native Internet for Arabic-speakers around the world. To achieve this, it will support efforts to create Arabic domain names and enable their use.

"As a founding member of AINC, I am eager to participate in these meetings," said J. Douglas Hawkins, Director of Business Development at WALID, Inc., a member of the Multilingual Internet Names Consortium (MINC) board and chairman of the Membership, Policy and Legal Committees of MINC. "WALID was the first company to provide Arabic domain name registration and resolution, so it is only natural for us to actively participate in this group. Our foundation lies in the Arabic world."
